"Irma will be very happy when you go!" Carl's words made her angry, but in truth Sara would have been equally happy to leave. Coming to Africa to care for her invalid sister, Irma, had brought her problems. Irma had married Ray Barton, the man Sara had once loved, and her jealous accusations made them all miserable. But the cold-blooded solutions suggested by Carl van Der Linden, their neighboring landowner, appalled Sara. She disliked Carl more than any other man she'd ever met!
