"Brief, elegant catalog features major Spanish colonial paintings and sculptures from the Quito School in the collection of the Museo Nacional del Banco Central (Ecuador). Stunning color reproductions attest to the fine quality of these works, representative of the religious transformation and cultural syncretism of European and American heritages. Bilingual Spanish-English texts by Rafael Cordero and Holguer Jara Chávez offer an introduction to the social milieu of the period"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
