"An extremely valuable contribution to the study of Mexican art music in the 20th century. The entry for each composer contains a photograph portrait, short biography, list of works (by genre and date), discography, and published scores. Thoroughly researched (with the help of some of the composers themselves) and beautifully organized. Useful introduction by Robert Stevenson"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
