"This unique collection brings together writing, photography, artwork, and poetry from authors and artists who are in the process of revising and rethinking butch and/or femme lesbian gender. Some are shaping their disciplines, some their nations, some their sexualities, some their lives, but all insist that readers open themselves to new intellectual, emotional, and sexual possibilities. In addition to more "serious" writing, lesbian comediennes offer their irreverent takes on butch-femme in this book. Vickie Shaw, Karen Williams, Jamie Anderson, and other edgy comics - almost never included in strictly academic publications - add an unconventional spin to this examination of lesbian gender."--BOOK JACKET.
