"Brief biography of Nuño de Guzmán, conqueror of New Galicia, is followed by a broad selection of documents that allow reader and researcher to judge this much debated figure. Contains documents related to his administration, the sale of Indian slaves; his residencia judgement, and several testimonies of witnesses to his career. The compilers attempt an objective introduction pointing to achievements as well as execrable character qualities"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
