The outcome of an investigation of over 19 years, the detailed accounts of the techniques, materials, forms of work, uses of colonial textile pieces, and the importance of their trade and communication channels, as well as the countless factors that influenced their designs, production, and commercialization. Colonial textiles, made using the European warp-weighted loom (not the traditional backstrap loom) were created for many uses of novohispana daily life: velvets, damasks, and brocades, with which sheets, tablecloths, and clothing were made, were also used as upholstery in horse-drawn carriages.
