This illustrated version of Hannah Hurnard's Christian novel enlivens the classic allegory of a Christian's lifelong walk with Christ. Shortcomings, temptations, and doubts common on the path to a mature faith and relationship with the Lord are detailed in colorful illustrations which add particular interest and impact for any reader. We follow poor, lowly Much-Afraid as she passes through a series of trials and temptations in order to be transformed according to the promises of her beloved leader, the Chief Shepherd. Faithfully guiding, correcting, and reassuring Much-Afraid throughout her arduous journey, Hurnard's portrayal of the Chief Shepherd encourages deeper recognition and appreciation for Christ's ongoing guidance, correction, and reassurance to everyone who strives after His kingdom in their own life.
