"The discovery of the body of a young woman inside the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela shocks the city. At the same time the manuscript of Priscillian, the great Galician heretic, disappears from the university library. Deputy Police Commissioner Lois Castro works both cases with the unexpected aid of two journalists: the young Laura Marquez who came to Santiago running from her own ghosts, and the veteran reporter Villamil who has seen better days. This fast-paced novel intertwines the stories of environmentalists, religious pilgrims, academics, robber barons, and priests in a city where nothing is as it seems." -- publisher's description.
