"Monograph by an influential academic researcher and policymaker on the opening of the Colombian economy. The author presents a history of the relationship between economic development and protectionism in Colombia, describes the current process of economic opening, and makes a projection about its impact. Asserts that the Colombian economy was already turning to new exports and private investment prior to the Gaviria Administration non-gradual opening process.
