"Suggestive account of political trends in Spain and their impact on Platine politics in the early national period. Sees a correlation between the Spanish liberal ideologies and those of the Argentine Unitarios, and a parallel correlation between Spanish traditionalists and the Platine caudillos (Cornelio Saavedra, Artigas, and the subsequent federals)"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
