AN INNOCENT IN LOVE... When her father dies, beautiful Candida Walcott, left penniless, knows she will have to sell the one thing she loves most in the world--her black stallion, Pegasus. But, as luck has it, Major Hooper, the London stable-owner who buys Pegasus, is equally enchanted by Candida and offers her a job in his riding school. Thrilled that she will be near Pegasus, and unaware of Major Hooper's hidden motives, Candida allows herself to be lured into the world of the Pretty Horse-Breakers. There she moves innocently in the circles of high-paid mistresses and procurers, unaware that she is considered one of them. When Candida falls in love with handsome Lord Manville, known as "the Heart-Breaker," her real troubles begin....
