Christa and her brother David left Boston with hope of making a fortune in the timber country near Seattle, Washington. But cholera had taken their parent on the journey west, and now an isolated cabin near Puget Sound was all they possessed. Until her brother vowed to escape their poverty -- by marrying Christa off to a wealthy businessman. Christa secretly rebelled against wedding the older man her brother had chosen for her. But she never expected to lose her heart so quickly to a stranger she was forbidden to know -- Tall Cloud, powerful chief of the Suquamish. The first time their eyes met, Christa felt herself tremble. Something more profound than reason had joined instantly... and forever. Their fierce passion was fated no matter who tried to stop them -- Christa's enraged brother or a savage enemy from a rival tribe who would test a proud Indian's courage and the indomitable force of a woman's love.
