"The sharp detective Sherlock Holmes and his assistant, the physician John H. Watson, have been commissioned by President Ulises Heureaux to solve the mystery of the disappearance of the remains of Columbus. This is how, assisted by Lieutenant Agapito Chalas, they are putting together the mystery puzzle, through certain clues and applying their proverbial sagacity, deductive capacity and professional expertise. All this within the framework of the celebrations of the fifty-second anniversary of the independence of the Republic. However, under the reigning carnival atmosphere, decadent and burly of Santo Domingo, the consequences of the investigation will lead to delirious situations, just like the narrative discourse with which Deive has written this extraordinary novel." --Translated from back cover
