The present comprehensive study of the Tonay an-Misantla Codex (previously called only Misantla) reinterprets it and rectifies errors from previous studies. It allows us to get closer to the indigenous version of the first stage of the conquest process, and reveals the political-territorial configuration of the Totonac settlements in the Actopan river basin, a space where indigenous painters recreated the story of the arrival of Hern an Cort es in the year Indigenous ce acatl, one cane, corresponding to 1519.
