"Statesman, military officer, and revolutionary, Mosquera (1798-1878) was a pivotal figure in the 19th century. This scholarly biography draws on a range of archival materials to present him as a complex leader in the transition of Colombia from colony to republic. Not a definitive work, but an important assessment"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
